RS Symposium Keynote – Reinforcing the Web: The Bridge Between Data and Practice in Reflective Supervision

Reflective supervision and consultation (RS/C) creates space for professionals to explore not only what happens in their work, but also how the work impacts them. This keynote explores the intersection of research, lived experience, and practice in reflective supervision, highlighting the core elements that support effective reflective relationships, including trust, emotional safety, collaboration, consistency, and curiosity. Participants will consider how data and personal and cultural narratives can work together to inform reflective practice and strengthen the infant and early childhood mental health workforce. The presentation also examines the importance of equity and positionality in RS/C and offers practical strategies for making experiences and patterns more visible through reflection, self-assessment, and attention to themes that emerge in reflective work.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Identify at least three core components of effective reflective supervision/consultation
  2. Describe how research data and lived experience can be integrated to deepen understanding of professionals’ experiences and inform reflective supervision/consultation practices
  3. Identify strategies for incorporating equity and positionality into reflective supervision/consultation
