Human Trafficking: Understanding Youth Vulnerabilities and Risks
This interactive and educational workshop explores the complex vulnerabilities and risk factors that make youth susceptible to the many forms of human trafficking. Participants will gain insight into the social, economic, psychological, and environmental contributors to youth trafficking risk. The session will cover common pathways into trafficking, such as homelessness, family instability, substance abuse, and involvement in the juvenile justice system. Emphasis will be placed on recognizing early warning signs and employing prevention strategies. The workshop includes discussions on trauma-informed and culturally sensitive engagement, protective factors, and multidisciplinary collaboration to enhance safety and resilience among vulnerable youth populations.
