LEARNING OUTCOME
After attending this session, participants will have increased knowledge of the requirements of professional ethics when there is an ethical conflict between physician and nurses or other health professionals.
OBJECTIVES
- Identify scope and limits of ethically relevant patient education obligations for nurses and other health professionals
- Identify options for addressing moral distress in a health professional
- Identify circumstances in which moral courage is ethically obligatory
- Identify distinctive circumstances in a rural hospital that might alter the ethical responses of a nurse or other health professional
