A Reflective Learning Series for New Infant Mental Health Home Visitors: Clinical Formulations (Session #7)

Theme: Choosing directions in the work: holding complexity-

This monthly 3-hour live virtual learning series introduces new Infant Mental Health home visitors to the foundational principles, practices, and reflective stance of IMH work. Grounded in developmental, relational, and clinical theory—including attachment, regulation, reflective functioning, and trauma-informed care—this series emphasizes how we show up, not only what we know.

Each session blends didactic instruction, case vignettes, reflective dialogue, and small-group discussion to deepen participants’ capacity to observe, attune, and respond to the complex relational needs of infants, young children, and their families. Clinical application focuses on strengthening parent–infant relationships, supporting practitioner self-awareness, and enhancing interdisciplinary collaboration across early childhood systems.

Participants receive an IMH Onboarding Toolkit (IMH Manual, curated digital resources, and selected readings) to support integration into daily practice. Guest trainers join throughout the year to teach on attachment, reflective functioning, the IMH supervisory stance, perinatal mental health, and more.
