I currently work as the Director of Strategic Initiatives at the University of Michigan. In my role, I coordinate experiential learning opportunities and oversees the Public Health Action Support Team (PHAST) and the Future Public Health Leaders Program (FPHLP). I also develop and maintain relationships with community stakeholders domestically and internationally to support Public Health in Action Courses.
I've served as a mentor/supervisor in a variety of capacities. I currently oversee 5 full-time staff and 4 student workers. I've mentored students through FPHLP since 2018 and I've also served as a mentor through NASW. I completed the core supervision training as well.
As a supervisor, I see myself as a facilitator of learning, a mentor, and a curator. The mentor-mentee relationship is mutually beneficial, and I am to be an effective mentor by providing guidance and support while encouraging you to take responsibility for your own learning. I want to encourage a sense of autonomy in my mentees and develop their skills and confidence to become lifelong learners. We will work well if you enjoy learning, are curious to seek out the answers you need and are willing to have uncomfortable conversations.
