Over the past 40 + years, I have worked in both the clinical and macro areas of SW. Macro areas of practice have included program development, compliance, grant writing, budgeting, legal compliance, risk management, and developing program policies and procedures. I have done community organizing, outreach, advocacy for special populations and specialized purposes, including chairing a Senate Subcommittee to facilitate legislative changes for Substance Abuse Laws and legal procedures, including sanctions. Clinically I have worked with various populations and various ages over the years in publicly and privately funded organizations, agencies, programs and clinics. I have developed and worked in a very successful Employee Assistance Program, and developed and worked in substance abuse detox, as well as substance abuse and mental health inpatient, outpatient, day treatment and residential programs, including those for special populations. Since 1998 I have been a co-owner of a private psychiatric/mental health practice in the Okemos Area. I specialize in working with anxiety and mood disorders, LGBTQ+ issues, trauma recovery, grief and loss, relation and family conflicts, to name just a few. I have also worked been validated as a expert witness in the legal system on several different areas. I completed the NASW Core Supervision Training component several years ago and currently also contract with the LARA Dept of the State as an expert witness, providing opinions on ethics issues with State Social Work Licensees.
