Prior supervision/mentoring experience
I am a clinical social worker with both macro and micro experience. I have had multiple social work interns and students throughout the years, while also providing supervision to staff one on one and within group settings, as well as becoming an independent contractor for MSW licensure supervision. I currently serve as a Social Work Program Manager over two inpatient programs within the University of Michigan Medicine adult hospitals (one program for older adults and the other program for end of life). I also have served in a contingent role for the past 5+ years within the Adult Emergency Department & Medical Short Stay Units providing crisis intervention, trauma response, assisting with substance abuse, homelessness, domestic violence, assault, etc.
I also teach at Eastern Michigan University for BSW and MSW level courses, as well as at Spring Arbor University at the MSW level. Lastly, I hold a part time position providing individual and couples counseling with a focus on: End of life, grief & loss, depression, anxiety, trauma, crisis, dementia, caregiving, chronic illness, self-esteem, addiction, life transitions, aging, domestic violence, sexual assault, and abuse.
Supervision should be a safe and relaxing space for you to be able to honestly talk through situations that are occurring, ask questions about things that you are not highly skilled in, and a space to talk through situations that might be a little nerve wracking by talking with someone within your employment agency.
