The Relationship Between Trauma and Substance Use in Children, Families, and Communities, and How Peers Provide Support
This training will start with an overview of the relationship between trauma and Substance Use Disorder (SUD), intergenerational cycles of substance use, and address specifics about what types of challenges and consequences children and youth face when they have parents in active use. Additionally, this training will emphasize the importance and distinct uniqueness of the Peer role. It will also provide information and recommendations for other professionals working alongside Peer staff that may help to better working relationships and more efficiently meet consumer needs and goals.
