Jeff's clinical interests include working with children with anxiety and children who are coping with trauma. Additionally he specializes in providing play therapy to children with attachment problems and their families. Jeff is also nationally certified in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and is a developer training supervisor. Jeff is also internationally certified in Parent-Child Interaction Therapy and is within-agency trainer. Jeff LaPonsie is trained to provide the Core Curriculum on Childhood Trauma through the National Child Traumatic Stress Network

Jeff has trained or supervised over twenty social workers at his practice, Kalamazoo Child and Family Counseling. He has experience providing intensive home-based services for children at risk of out of home placement. He has experience working at a child advocacy center and supporting child and adolescent survivors of sexual and physical abuse. Jeff teaches adjunctly for the School of Social Work, and Health Services and Sciences at the College of Health and Human Services.
